Injection guide
STEP 01
Wash your hands
Scrub your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds. Rinse thoroughly under clean running water, then dry completely with a clean paper towel.
STEP 02
Check your prescription
Confirm your injection dosage amount in units
STEP 03
Clean vial with alcohol swab
Remove the sterile cap if this is your first time using the vial. Scrub the top firmly with an alchohol swab for at least 10 seconds.
STEP 04
Draw air into the syringe
Draw air equal to the amount of your prescribe injection dosage.
STEP 05
Draw your dose and remove air bubbles
Insert the needle through the soft top, invert the vial, push the air in, then slowly draw back to your prescribed dose line. Check the syringe for remaining air bubble, and push out any remaining air before moving on to injection.
STEP 06
Clean injection area
Choose an injection spot on the abdomen (at least two inches from the navel), upper buttocks, outer thigh, or back of upper arm. Rub the injection site thoroughly with an alcohol swab
STEP 07
Inject yourself
Gently pinch the skin around the injection site, insert the needle in one smooth motion, and steadily push the plunger in over 3 to 4 seconds. Leave the needle in place for a few seconds after pushing the plunger, to ensure the full dose is delivered. Then pull the needle out at the same angle you inserted it.
STEP 08
Dispose of your needle
Immediately discard your used needle in an approved sharps container.
