Frequently asked questions
Getting Started
How does this work? What happens after I place an order?
After selecting a treatment you will be asked to complete a health intake that asks about your health history, including current medications, allergies and goals. A clinician licensed in your state reviews your information and decides whether the treatment is appropriate for you. If they approve it, they write a prescription and a licensed compounding pharmacy prepares it and ships it to you. If your doctor has questions, they will reach out to you before deciding.
Once shipped, you should receive your treatment in approximately 2 business days, along with administration instructions. If you have any follow up questions, you can message your assigned doctor directly via the Phases website.
Placing an order is a request for an evaluation, not a purchase of medication, though we accept payment for your prescription in advance for convenience. In the event you are not approved for a treatment, you will be refunded the amount of your prescription minus the cost of medical evaluation.
Do I need a prescription, and who writes it?
Yes. Everything Phases offers is prescription only. The prescription is written by a doctor licensed in your state who has reviewed the health information you provide.
What happens if the clinician decides this is not right for me?
That happens, and it is the system working as intended. If the clinician declines, you will be promptly refunded the cost of the medication, which is collected in advance for convenience and to reduce processing fees, though your evaluation fee will be retained. Your doctor may also suggest a different treatment, ask for more information, or recommend that you follow up with your primary care provider first.
Which states do you ship to?
All fifty states. Your clinician will be licensed in the state where you are located, and your prescription is filled by a pharmacy licensed to ship there.
What you get
Are these FDA-approved?
These are compounded preparations, made for you individually by a licensed pharmacy under a prescription. The FDA does not review compounded medicines for safety or effectiveness before they are dispensed. Some contain the same or similar active ingredient as an FDA-approved drug, but the compounded preparation itself is not the approved product and has not been evaluated by FDA.
What is a compounding pharmacy?
A compounding pharmacy prepares medications individually rather than manufacturing them in batches. Compounding is permitted under Sections 503A and 503B of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. Every pharmacy we work with is state licensed, fills only against a valid prescription, and tests all medication for purity and sterility, where applicable. If you would like licensing details or testing results for the pharmacy filling your order, ask your clinician and we will provide them.
Can I see testing results for what I receive?
Yes. A certificate of analysis for your lot is available on request. Message your clinician through your account and we will obtain it from the pharmacy.
How long is my prescription valid, and how do refills work?
A prescription is typically written for 30 to 90 days. Refills are available on request and may require follow-up clinical review, so your clinician can check how you are doing before continuing.
How is this different from the peptides I can buy online without a prescription?
Peptides and similar therapeutics sold without a prescription are typically sold as research chemicals and labelled as not for human consumption. Those products are not made in a licensed pharmacy, are often imported, and there is usually no verifiable certificate of analysis, no sterility assurance, and no recourse if the contents are not what the label says.
What you get from Phases is a preparation made by a state-licensed compounding pharmacy against a prescription written for you, with a lot you can trace and testing you can ask to see.
Safety
What should I do if I have a side effect or a reaction?
Stop using it and seek medical care right away. Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room if you have signs of a serious allergic reaction, such as rash or hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, trouble breathing, chest tightness, fainting, or a fast or irregular heartbeat. Do not wait to contact us first.
For symptoms that are bothersome but not an emergency, stop use and message your clinician through your account. Do not resume use until they tell you it is safe.
Can I use this if I am pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding?
Generally no. Safety in pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been established for these preparations, and some carry specific risks. Tell your clinician during intake if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, are breastfeeding, or are trying to conceive. If you become pregnant during a treatment, stop use immediately and discuss with your doctor before resuming.
Will this interact with my birth control or my other medications?
Some medications may, so it is important to inform your doctor of all medications you are taking. Tirzepatide, for example, slows stomach emptying and can reduce how well oral birth control is absorbed, especially around dose increases, so a barrier or non-oral method is recommended during that period. Other products interact with blood pressure medicines, diabetes medicines, antidepressants and blood thinners. List everything you take during intake, including over-the-counter products and supplements, so your clinician can check.
Can I use more than one Phases product at the same time?
Often, but it will depend on your personal health history. When you submit your health information, disclose all medications you are currently using, including other Phases products and anything prescribed elsewhere, so combinations can be reviewed properly.
I am a competitive athlete. Am I allowed to take these?
Check before you order. Some peptides appear on the World Anti-Doping Agency prohibited list. If you are subject to testing by an anti-doping organization, an athletic league, a collegiate association or a similar body, assume a product is prohibited unless you have confirmed otherwise with your compliance officer.
Standard workplace and pre-employment drug test screen for controlled substances and do not test for Phases products.
Using your treatment
Do I have to inject myself, and how difficult is it?
Some products are administered by subcutaneous injection, others by nasal sprays or topical application. Subcutaneous injections use a short, fine needle inserted just under the skin. Most people find them straightforward and mostly painless after a few injections. Instructions come with your shipment and your clinician can walk you through the first one.
What is the difference between the injectable and the nasal version?
Injection delivers a more consistent dose with broader systemic effect. A nasal spray is needle-free and easier to travel with, but absorption may vary more and can be affected by congestion, among other factors. For some brain-active peptides, nasal sprays are the most effective route.
How should I store this?
Storage instructions come with your shipment and vary by product. Most injectables need refrigeration promptly on arrival.
What do I do with used needles?
Put them in an sharps container, never in household trash or recycling. Sharps contains are cheap and easy to buy online. Many pharmacies, clinics and county programs accept full containers, and rules vary by area so check locally. Never reuse or share needles.
Cost and payment
Is this a subscription, and how do I cancel it?
Refills are not automatic. If you choose a recurring plan, we tell you the price, the billing frequency and the renewal date before you enter payment details, and we send a reminder before each charge. You can cancel at any time from your account in the same number of steps it took to sign up, without calling or emailing anyone. Cancelling stops future charges.
Do you take insurance, and can I use my HSA or FSA?
Not currently. We are working on HSA (health savings account) and FSA (flexible spending account) acceptance and will update this if it becomes. We do not bill insurance, and you may not submit our bills to your insurer for reimbursement.
Can I change or cancel my order?
It depends on where your order is in the process. Before a clinician has reviewed your health information, we may be able cancel it and refund you in full. Email support@wearephases.com as soon as possible.
Once your prescription has been written and sent to the pharmacy, it generally cannot be cancelled. Your medication is compounded individually for you. It cannot be returned to stock or dispensed to anyone else.
To change a delivery address, contact us before your order ships.
What is your return policy?
We cannot accept returns of medication. Once a prescription has been dispensed, it cannot be returned to the pharmacy or dispensed to another patient.
If a clinician declines your request, the cost of the medication is refunded. If your order arrives damaged, we will replace it at no cost. If it never arrives, we will work it out with the carrier and the pharmacy and usually be able to issue you a refund.
Shipping, support and privacy
How long does shipping take?
Once your prescription is filled, most orders arrive within about two business days.
Temperature-sensitive products are shipped cold to limit time at room temperature. A package that feels cool, or close to room temperature, on arrival is normal. Refrigerate it promptly.
Can I travel with this, or ship it to a different address?
You can ship to any address where we are able to deliver, and should choose to receive your product where a refrigerated package will not sit unattended for an extended period. Travelling domestically is generally fine. Keep it in its original labelled packaging so it is identifiable.
For international travel, do your own research before you go. Rules on bringing medicines across borders vary by country, and we cannot advise on the law where you are going.
What if my order arrives damaged or does not arrive at all?
Do not use it cracked or damages products. Photograph the package and the contents as they arrived and message us through your account. If a container is cracked, leaking or otherwise damaged, we will replace it at no cost to you. If tracking shows delivered but nothing is there, tell us and we will work it out with the carrier and pharmacy.
